We are not traditional spine surgeons. We do not perform traditional spine surgery. Why would we? Traditional spine surgery has been around, largely unchanged, since the 1950s and is one of the most commonly avoided procedures in medicine. The traditional paradigm is to wait until the patient cannot stand their pain one moment longer, because the success rate for traditional spine surgery is quite low and the risks associated with it are very serious. In cases where a traditional surgery is required, we happily refer patients to orthopedic or neurosurgeons.
Unlike other practices that call themselves minimally invasive while performing traditional surgeries through smaller incisions, North American Spine is unique. We are innovative. Our procedures are minimally invasive at the incision site, but more importantly we are not damaging or stretching healthy tissue on our way to the pathology. We are not removing bone, thereby compromising the natural structure of your spine. We are not navigating blindly based on the uncertain findings of an MRI. We do not remove healthy tissue. Most procedures that are advertised as minimally invasive carry the very same risks and drawbacks as traditional spine surgery. For most practices, “minimally invasive” is a meaningless marketing phrase. Our procedures are clearly the least invasive of all minimally invasive spine procedures.
The AccuraScope™ DND procedure for the lumbar spine takes the least invasive approach possible, through a natural opening, to allow simultaneous diagnosis and treatment of the various causes of nerve root compression. By entering the spinal canal through the sacral hiatus, our Fellowship-trained Pain Management Physicians can view directly, with a high-definition scope, the inflamed and damaged tissues causing the pain and treat them at the same time. This unique approach and equipment allows us to treat multiple lumbar levels in a single procedure, with a single incision. No other practice can offer this advantage.
Our physicians are all board-certified, with specialty training in Interventional Pain Management. Our procedures are a significant, yet natural, evolution of pain management techniques they have been practicing for decades. For many patients, it is no longer necessary to take the risks associated with major spine surgery. Our highly advanced pain management procedures can prevent many patients from requiring a more invasive surgery. Best of all, because the procedures are so gentle, we can treat chronic pain symptoms sooner. There is no need to suffer any longer!
